Recently, the newsroom suffered a mid-day power outage. After sitting around – useless – for a good 20 minutes, a co-worker and I decided to take a walk up the street to visit a nursery.
We ooh-ed and ahh-ed at the variety of lovely flowers out front (none of which would last a day in the dark, nearly-windowless newsroom) and the locally-made soaps, wind chimes and garden accessories inside the shop.
We went back outside behind the store and swooned over the berry bushes and blooming trees until…
We saw the goats.
There were 4 or 5 of them, most chilling out in their little goat house, eating their goat food or whatever else they found on the ground.
“Awww! Goat friends!”
We were stoked.
So we went over to chat with them in hopes of persuading a few to allow us to pet them.
